From Olbia to Pula

Over 650 km to cross Sardinia from the North to the South passing through the steep climbs and descents of the Gennargentu mountains. From the pink granite of the north to the black basalt of the island of Sant'Antioco. Are you ready for this unique experience?
  • Day by Day

    1. Individual arrival in Olbia and first overnight.
Possibility to book a private transfer from the airport to the hotel.

    2. Olbia – Pattada (78 km, elevation up 1700 m)
Right from the first day you get to know the real heart of Sardinia as we cross the Monti di Alà, a wild and remote highland with an extensive cork tree forest. After the Lerno Lake you’ll reach a charming hotel in the countryside village of Pattada.

    3. Pattada – Cala Gonone (93 km, elevation up 1500 m)
Soon after Bitti you tackle some hills and the Supramonte, the island's biggest limestone massif swings into view. You spend the night in Cala Gonone, a seaside village with a dramatic coastline where the mountain plunges into the sea.

    4. Cala Gonone – Fonni (68 km, elevation up 1700 m)
This is the day for the king of the mountains. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, you cross the town of Oliena, one of the most characteristic settlements of this area with its wrought iron balconies and massive wooden portals. From here, you climb along the slopes of the Supramonte as far as Orgosolo where you can make a short stop to admire the famous wall paintings - witnesses of past years of social unrest - the work of numerous artists. You cross the upland plain of Mamoiada and reach Fonni, 1000 m asl, where you find the hotel, a restored ancient splendid palazzo.

    5. Fonni – Villanovaforru (113 km, elevation up 1500 m)
Another hilly day in the very heart of the island. You plunge into the chestnut woods round Ovodda and ride through the charming valley of Sorgono, rich in vegetation. After the village of Laconi the terrain easies out as we descend towards the Campidano flatland. You ride on the rolling hills of Marmilla, along hidden country lanes. You stop for the night in the village of Villanovaforru.

    6. Villanovaforru – Arbus (106 km, elevation up 1500m)
Back to the ocean! Today you will cycle through the natural beauty spots of the Costa Verde, some of the most savage scenery on the island. Our stop tonight is an agriturismo renown for its mouth-watering traditional dishes.

    7. Arbus – Calasetta (103 km, elevation up 1000 m)
This day takes you back into the ancient mining past of Sardinia, as you pass the fascinating abandoned mines of Buggerru and Planusartu. After the golden beach of Portixeddu and looming mass of Pan di Zucchero cliff, you admire the old ore washery at Nebida: nestling in the varied colours of the Mediterranean bush, it looks out over the sea at the end of a long descent down 540 steps. A Ferry will take you to Carloforte, where locals still fish the Red Tuna fish. From Carloforte, you continue to the island of Sant'Antioco and end your day near Calasetta, where you stay in a very elegant countryside hotel.

    8. Calasetta – Pula (95 km, elevation up 700 m)
Final catwalk of your tour is the beautiful Costa del Sud with its gleaming white beaches, unspoilt natural landscape and imposing cliffs: Cape Malfatano with its 16th Century tower, Cape Spartivento and Chia. At Nora you can visit the ancient Phoenician settlement.

    9. Pula
After breakfast, end of services .

The itinerary may be subject to unexpected changes before and/or during your holiday, due to unforeseeable circumstances, such as: extreme weather conditions, unannounced road or repair works or law enforcements.
